Dr. Gordon Green

I pray you are all having a blessed 4th of July! May the Lord bless all of you! Phillip

AMM Team Report: Dr. Gordon Green DDS June 29- July 3, 2008

We were thankful to have Dr. Gordon Green and team with us from Indiana. The team was 4 dentists and 2 hygienist strong, as well consisted of 11 other team members to support the team’s effort on the river. For the first day of work the CV headed up the large village of Santa Maria on the Rio Nanay (the district capital). The whole dental team worked the entire day to attend all of the patients that were registered. 190 patients were provided dental care with many received multiple filling or extractions and cleanings.  As the team finished and the sun was setting the Chosen Vessel made its way up the Nanay to the village of Diamante Azul for the second day of work. Here 106 patients were provided dental care. After finishes the team finished their work, the CV began its journey back down river. The team spent part of the afternoon in Anguilla, being able to see the saw mill operation there, as well as enjoy the beauty of the dense jungle. For the third day of work, the team attended the large village of Samito. Here 195 patients were attended, our largest number for the week. To end the week the team entered the village of Libertad, a smaller village where 83 people who provided dental care. It was great to have Dr. Green and team with us providing much needed dental care here in the jungle!

All in all for the week-

574 patients were  attended with cleanings, fillings and extractions. We were curious what the care the patients received this would cost in the USA. We used conservative costs based on the dentist we had with us. The care this past week totaled over $100,000.00. Praise God for his bounty and goodness to us and the people of the Nanay River this week. Please continue to pray for God's Blessing and direction here in the jungle.

AMM Team Report- Van Ryn Team June 2008

AMM Team Report: Joyce Van Ryn RN June 22-26, 2008

We were glad to have Joyce Van Ryn back with us for her second trip this year. She and her 11 member team from Michigan headed for the village of Irlanda on the Rio Napo. Joyce has adopted the village of Irlanda. In adopting a village; Joyce, her teams and her home church have helped build a church building in Irlanda, placed two wells, provided medical and dental clinics, helped repair homes, and given many gifts of clothes as well as food and shoes.  This trip the teams focus was assisting the villagers in creating gardens around their homes as well as helping the women with sewing.  On Monday, the rains did not allow the garden plating to begin so the team gave away their gifts of clothes, candles and toys in the morning followed by sewing with the women. In the afternoon, the weather cooperated and much of the planting of various vegetables in the villagers gardens was complete. Dental care was also provided to those who wanted it as well as medical care to those who were sick. The day ended with an evening service.

On Tuesday, the team returned to the village of Irlanda. They completed the garden project as well as assisted the women with their sewing project of making an outfit for themselves. The team also had a fun time playing with the children of the village. They taught many of the children baseball, who caught on to the game quite well.  In the later afternoon a service was held with a lot of the village in attendance before the CV left for its next destination.

On Wednesday, the CV traveled back onto the Rio Amazonas to the village of Yanamomo Zona II. Here the team assisted in the clinic as the Peruvian medical staff attended the medical patients. They provided a gospel presentation, followed by gifts of clothes and toys and reading glasses and medicine for those who needed them. The afternoon was spent having fun with the village and playing soccer before the CV departed for our Nina Rumi port.

After returning to the Nina Rumi port early Thursday morning, the team traveled to Anguilla and Monte Calvario to see the House Project in action. A good day and week for all.

AMM Team Report: Dr. Buddy Walker June 15-20, 2008

This week we were blessed with having dentist, Dr Buddy Walker and team from Tifton, Georgia. For our work this week the CV made its way down the Nanay, down the Amazon and onto the Napo River.  For our first day of work the team traveled into the pueblo of Huanana. This was only our second visit to this pueblo. Here the team provided the pueblo with medical and dental attentions, gifts of clothes, hats, and fishing kits. After completing the morning medical clinic, the team provided each family with a gift of food which included: Beans, Rice, Milk, Sardines, oil, sugar, Body Soap, and a laundry bar. The team then conducted a children’s program for the pueblo that included a story, craft, puppets, and playing with a parachute. The team ended the day with a service and presenting the Pastor in the pueblo a cross the team had made them for their Church.

For the second day, the CV made its way farther up the Napo to the Pueblo of San Alenjandro. This was our first time visiting this pueblo. The pueblo was grateful for our visit. Here the team provided medical and dental attentions to over 130 people. The gifts of clothes and food were given and the message of Christ shared.

For our third day on the river, the team entered the pueblo of Nuevo Progreso. This was also our first time visiting this pueblo. They were glad to receive us into their pueblo. No other group had ever entered their pueblo to provided medical or dental care at all.  This pueblo did not have a Pastor, nor a body of believers that regularly met. Here the word of Christ was shared and the pueblo was encouraged to meet together to read the New Testament they had been given and to worship together regularly. Here the team also provided medical and dental attentions, and gave many gifts of love and shared Christ with the people.

For our final day, the CV made its way to the mouth of the Napo River and back onto the Amazon River to the pueblo of San Antonio de Marupa. Here the team provided medical and dental attentions to the entire pueblo as well as gifts of clothes, beans, soap, and hats. All in all, a Great Week!

First Team Report

AMM Team Report

For our first team of June, we were joined by Dr. Joe Pecoraro and team, which included members from Florida, Indiana, and Mexico.  First our first day of work the CV made its way down the Amazon River to the pueblo of La Victoria. La Victoria is located on an island in the middle of the Amazon River as are each of the 4 villages we visited this week. This was only the second time  AMM teams have visited each of these villages as well.  After much rain throughout the night and early morning, the path into the village was quite muddy and made the 25 minute walk a small adventure.  The team attended a total of 211 people, providing each person with medical care, foot washing, sandals and medicine. The team also supplied each family with mosquito nets, as well as reading glasses to those who needed them. Upon return to the CV for the lunch break, a young man who had just fallen came to the CV and required a number of stitches above his left eye.   During the afternoon the team had a good time with the children of the village and conducted a service, ending the day with a movie.

The next day the CV moved down the Amazon to the village of Timicuro Zone I. Here over 200 more people received gifts of medical care as well as shoes for the children, reading glasses, and medicine for those who needed them. During the afternoon the team played with the children of the village with a soccer ball and parachute. They all had a great time. During the teams dinner break a movie was shown, followed by a gospel presentation and preaching of the word, followed by a time of pray for many of the people in the pueblo.

For our third day on the river, we attended the people of Timicuro Zone III.  Pictures of each family were able to be taken today along with shoes for the children. The team spent the afternoon enjoying the people of the pueblo along with the evening service and a movie.

For our final day, the village of Las Palmas was visited. Here the shoes and family photos were taken as well. The team minister to each family as they passed through the clinic but also shared with the village as a whole about the power of the gospel in changing their lives and their pueblo.

Totals for the week:

953         Medical/Dental Attentions

143         Pairs of Eyeglasses

361         Pairs of Sandals

157         Salvations

Haines City, FL

AMM TEAM REPORT

It was great blessing to have my sister Julie wiith me this week! She made the trip a lot of fun and I miss her already! Please pray for travel mercies for her and the entire team as they are traveling home. Thanks!

For the last week of May, it was great to have an 18 member team led by Duane Nayrocker from Haines City, FL.  It was great to have Duane with us as his first time as team leader after being a team member on several trips.  The team from Haines City was joined by 4 medical personnel from Alabama and Michigan and another team member from Louisiana. Upon the teams arrival on Sunday, we began our 15 hour journey upriver to the village of San Antonio on the Rio Pintuyacu. Thanks to having a larger team during a time of high water, we were able to head upriver a great distance. For most of the year, the water levels do not allow the Chosen Vessel to enter the waters of the Chambira River.

For our First day of attending, we were able to provide 247 medical attentions to the people of San Antonio. The team washed the feet of the entire village and was able to present each person with a new pair of sandals.  All received a presentation of the Gospel during the clinic and had their needs prayed for. The entire village was also given gifts of fishing and sewing materials, toys, clothes, sunglasses and hats. Also, those needing reading glasses were fitted with them. In the afternoon, the team had a fun time blessing the pueblo with a time of playing soccer, painting finger nails, braiding and brushing hair, coloring and just having a good time together. It was a fun day, working hard, serving and loving others-

What could be better!

For our second day on the river, the Chosen Vessel traveled another 4 hours upriver and onto the Chambira River to reach the village of Atalaya, one of only 4 villages on the Chambira.  It had been 3 years since the Chosen Vessel had been able to enter the waters of the Chambira River to reach these precious people. Over the past few years many attempts had been made, but had been unsuccessful- until this year. We were grateful to the Lord that the CV was able to make the journey and so were the people of the Chambira River.  The team was able to bless the people of Atalaya with 156 medical attentions, sandals for all, and many gifts. The team finished off their morning spending time having fun with the people. After lunch, the Pastor and government authority of the village led the team on a jungle hike- as we were as far into the jungle as any team was going to get!  After the walk, the team played soccer, played catch and just had a good time with the people. The day ended with the showing of “One night with the King.”

Early the next morning the CV continued its 3 hour journey up the Chambira to the pueblo of Buena Vista. Here the team attended not only the residents of Buena Vista but also the pueblos of Nuevo Porvenir and Villa Flor. All in all, 170 medical attentions were given in the name of Jesus. It was a good day. In the mid afternoon the CV began its journey back downriver for its work on Thursday. The people of the Chambira were blessed by our visit and received much needed gift of sandals, clothes, toiletry items, a family photo, medicine and most importantly the Love of Christ! Yes, how much God cares for the birds and so much more for the people of the Chambira-135 miles outside of Iquitos, Peru!

For our final day, the CV had traveled most of the evening and through the night back onto the Nanay River.  We had attempted to enter the village of Porvenir but were unable to due to low water in the stream that leads into the village.  So we were led to serve the people of Mishana for our final day. The team continued its ministry of washing feet, medical attentions, and serving the people. During the lunch break, we were surprised by a boat load of villagers singing praise songs. They were 47 people from the village of Porvenir who came to us, as we could not get to them. It was a pleasant surprise and the team dove right in and attended our unexpected guest. We were able to bless the people of Porvenir with a second guitar that had been left for them by the previous team to visit their pueblo. We also had new guitar strings to give them. God is so good to us! What an encouragement the people of Porvenir were to us! To end the day the people of Porvenir led the team in worship songs and we prayed for them. What a blessing to serve an awesome God who continually pours out blessings onto His people!
